Ben has been a journalist and creative communications professional for more than 20 years.
He started is career as a journalist with Quest Community Newspapers in Brisbane in 1996 after completing is Journalism degree at the University of Queensland. After completing a cadetship and rising to become senior journalist on the Westside News he achieved an early career goal of becoing a business journalist, reporting on a range of Queensland companies for Australian Associated Press (AAP), eventually becoming the national media writer covering News Corpration, Fairfax and APN News & media.
Apart from covering the tech bust in 2001 he moved to London for a working holiday, where he worked for Dow Jones Newswires covering a range of European media companies listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE).
In 2003 he joined small Brisbane publicity company Crook Publicity as a consultant. He became a Director of the company in 2007 and helped build it into one of Queensland’s most highly regarded and successful public relations agencies. While working with Crook he established the companies in-house graphic design business Villain Designs (www.villaindesigns.com) and niche publishing site MBA News Australia (www.mbanews.com.au).
Together with fellow Crook Director Brenton Gibbs, he established RG Communications (RGC) in 2014 and launched short order content portal Content On Demand (www.contenondemand.com.au) in 2016.
RGC provides a diverse range of communications, content and creative services to more than 30 companies around Australia.
He holds a BA (Journalism), M Bus (Communications), Diploma of Investor Relations (AIRA) and an MBA.
